SWALEC Stadium and Cardiff chosen to host 2011 Conservative Party Spring Forum
7th January 2011

The SWALEC Stadium has been chosen to host the Conservative Party Spring Forum 2011. This will be the first time the event has come to Cardiff and is expected to attract nearly 3000 delegates to the city centre venue. Speaking at the conference will be Prime Minister and Leader of the Conservative Party David Cameron as well as other Cabinet Ministers.

The forum in 2010 was held in Brighton and attracted over 2500 delegates including, media, commercial partners and party members.

The event will attract local, national and international media with many sessions broadcast live. It will be an important time for the forum to take place in Wales as Welsh Assembly elections will be taking place just a few months later.

“The SWALEC Stadium was chosen as our venue for the Spring Forum because of its location, facilities and reputation. The entire venue will be fully utilised for the main conference, exhibition and fringe events and we expect it to be a very successful event attracting a high number of delegates.

“Cardiff is a fantastic City and well known for hosting major sporting and business events. We look forward to bringing this event to Wales for the first time.” Stephen Phillips, Head of Conferences, Conservative Party.
“We are delighted that the Conservative Party has chosen the SWALEC Stadium and Cardiff as the host venue and City for the 2011 Spring Forum.

“Since the SWALEC Stadium burst onto the events scene by hosting the 1st Ashes test in 2009 we have consistently and successfully hosted a wide variety of major sporting, corporate and political events. We look forward to continuing to do so throughout 2011 and to welcoming Prime Minister David Cameron to Wales and the SWALEC Stadium in March.”
