Glamorgan Cricket Raise Funds for Pakistan Flood Appeal
24th August 2010

24 August 2010

Glamorgan Cricket has announced that it will use the two England v Pakistan NatWest Twenty20 matches, to be held at the SWALEC Stadium in the first week of September, to help raise significant sums of money for the Pakistan Flood Appeal.

The recent floods have been recorded as the worst for over 80 years flooding an area larger than Wales, with at least 1,600 people having lost their lives, with many more still missing. As many as 20 million people have been affected by the disaster and it is feared that over six million children are now at risk of malnutrition, diarrhoea and pneumonia – consequently aid to the country is desperately vital.

In addition to having bucket collections at the matches on Sunday 5th and Tuesday 7th September, the Club has confirmed that 10% of all future ticket sales will also be donated to the flood appeal. Those attending the matches will also be able to make donations at a designated Islamic Relief marquee situated at the ground.

Glamorgan Cricket sees the England v Pakistan match as an appropriate event to raise significant funds for Pakistan, with many people attending the matches directly linked to people who have been immediately affected by the devastation.

Glamorgan Cricket Chief Executive, Alan Hamer said, “It is extremely distressing to witness on the news, the devastation caused by the recent floods in Pakistan. Millions of people need our help and the Club recognises that the forthcoming England v Pakistan matches provide an opportunity to raise much needed money for the appeal.”

Tickets for the NatWest International Twenty20 series England v Pakistan 5 September 2.30pm and 7 September 6.00pm are on sale now at www.glamorgancricket.com or
Tel: 02920 419311 or call into the SWALEC Stadium.
